Band Member Bios

Sukey Molloy

Created the Circle Song Band in 2006 after recording her first award winning children's CD. Sukey appears as a vocalist, performing artist, developmental movement educator, and leader of children's movement, play, and song. She is founder of the PlayMove&Sing and Developmental PlaySkills programs, and began her career as a professional modern dancer with the Solomon's Company Dance in NYC, NY.

Steven Lee

Comes to the Circle Song Band having begun writing music for children in a trio called Pure & Simple (www.pureandsimple.org). He received the 1998 Children's Music Web Award (Best Song for Older Children) for his song "Homework Blues" and was finalist the same year for Best Song for Younger Children ("When I Was Two"). Steven, along with Pure & Simple, appeared at the 2002 United Nations International Literacy Day with host, LeVar Burton of PBS's "Reading Rainbow." Steve earned his PhD in school psychology and has worked extensively with children, parents and teachers in the New Jersey school system. He is also a very active dad with his two year old son Ethan!

Stephen Benson

Is a freelance NYC guitarist who plays rock, blues, jazz and classical music among other styles.He has performed and/or recorded with John Sebastian, Phoebe Snow, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Fontella Bass, The Teenagers, Ishtar and The New York International Fringe Festival. He performed twice at the Carnival of Venice (Italy) with Evelyn Blakey and has done international tours with The Giora Feidman Trio, A Chorus Line, Evita and Cats. His widespread experience includes many shows on Broadway (Lion King, Spamalot, Grease, 42nd Street, Chicago, Riverdance, Fiddler on the Roof, Light in the Piazza, Bernarda Alba, The Look of Love and many others). He has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Met Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Lukes, Kirov Orchestra, NYC Ballet Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony and the American Symphony. He is a former faculty member of the Hartt School of Music, has taught for the last two years at DayJams in NYC and is presently on the faculty of the Montclair State University School of Music.

Nancy Ferst

Co-Founder of PlayMove&Sing Inc., and is the Manager and Booking Agent for the Circle Song Band! She is a tenured elementary school teacher, and has been an at-home mother of two. Nancy heads up Product Development for PlayMove&Sing Inc. play materials and is behind the growth and development of the company's vision.

The Circle Song Band with Sukey Molloy & Friends is a warm, engaging, and entertaining combo of performers specializing in interactive movement, song and hands-on performance, with original and traditional music for the very young. Songs and activities are derived from Sukey Molloy’s award winning Circle Songs CD. Performances include puppets, felt art, participatory movement activities, and sing-a-long fun!
